Aquapex tubing

Aquapex is the leading brand of potable water both hot and cold PEX Tubing. Uponor Wirsbo manufactures this brand of PEX Tubing. Aquapex may be used in radiant heat applications where there are no ferrous metal or iron components. However Wirsbo Aquapex is more commonly used for PEX Plumbing applications.

Aquapex meets ASTM F876 and F877, and is certified to NSF standards 14 and 61. It is rated by the PPI: 200°F at 80 psi, 180°F at 100 psi, and 73.4°F at 160 psi. Aquapex Tubing comes in white, red, and blue. The Aquapex tubing is exactly the same just color coated for installation purposes for both hot and cold lines.

Aquapex may be used with the Wirsbo Expander Tool, the SSC Ratchet Tool, or PEX Compression Fittings. It’s an extremely uniform product with high temperature, pressure and chemical resistance. There are several different kinds of PEX tubing on the market and they are not all alike. Aquapex tubing has distinctive properties that make it ideal for plumbing and fire protection applications. The tubing is UL listed for use in residential fire protection systems.

Even though Wirsbo Aquapex does not have an oxygen diffusion barrier, it can be used in an open or open loop heating system. Corrosive or ferrous components should not be used in Aquapex circulating systems.

Taco valves

Taco created the WAGS valve to protect consumers from a common problem: flooding and damage caused by a water heater failure. It happens some 5.5 million times every year. Every water heater fails, most within 7 to 10 years. And because water continues to be supplied, a leaking water heater can pour hundreds or thousands of gallons of water into the home, damaging floors, rugs, furniture, personal items and the structure itself.

The WAGS (Water And Gas Shut-off) Valve eliminates the problem by automatically shutting off the water supply when a leak occurs. On gas-fired water heaters, WAGS also shuts off the gas supply to eliminate another potentially serious hazard.
WAGS can easily be installed on new or existing water heaters, both to protect the homeowner's property and give them peace of mind.

All homeowners are discovering the wisdom of having a WAGS Water And Gas Safety valve installed on their water heater. No matter the brand or how much the cost, the fact is, every water heater will eventually fail, usually within 7 to 10 years. Without a Taco WAGS valve, a leaking tank will keep refilling and leaking. An undetected water heater leak can release hundreds, even thousands, of gallons of water. For the first time, you can offer a solution to a problem that affects over 5.5 million households every year by opting for Taco valves.

Radiant Heat Installation Accessories

To run a Radiant Heat system efficiently, there are several other products needed to properly install and operate the Radiant Heat system. Radiant Floor Heating represents the fastest growing segment of the hydronic heating industry. Some of the main products required to run a radiant heat system effectively include Installation accessories. The installation accessories are needed to install PEX Tubing for Radiant Heat systems. These accessories include:
  • Bend supports; needed for making turns with PEX Tubing, and for attaching PEX Tubing to different surfaces.

  • Wirsbo joist heating hangers; provide support for the structure for PEX Tubing in joist heating applications. Zip ties or fixing wire can be used to attach PEX to the hangers.

  • Wirsbo PEX Rails; secures PEX Tubing to concrete floors and wood sub floors. These PEX rails are not designed for joist heating applications.

  • Tube Talons; connect PEX Tubing to wood surfaces. They can be used for PEX Plumbing and Radiant Heat Applications. Wirsbo tube talons are one of the most popular products for radiant heat systems
  • PEX Clips; attach PEX Tubing to under the wood sub-floor for joist heating applications. Drywall screws can be used to attach the PEX Clips.

  • Steel Plate Protector; protects tubing from possible damage by drywall, trim screws or nails, etc.
These installation accessories are needed to properly install and run a Radiant Heat system. For more information visit: supplyhouse

Taco Pumps

Pumps are an integral part of any Hydronic system. The pumps are used to send water to an area of the hydronic system when required, or to keep the flow of water in the system. For proper installation the pumps should be purchased with a pair of flanges to connect to the water line. .

Taco Pumps are the best selling pumps on SupplyHouse.com. These pumps include the Taco Cast Iron Pumps, the Taco Cast Iron IFC Pumps, and the Taco Bronze Pumps. Taco Pumps are ideal for radiant heat systems. The may be used in the primary loop, or for zoning purposes they may be used along with a swithing relay and thermostats. The best selling Taco pump is the Taco 007 Cast Iron Circulator Pump.

The different models of pumps reflect the flow-rate and head loss that is needed by a given system. The Taco 007 Pump has 7 feet of head loss with a flow rate of 5 gpm. Essentially the greater the number of the Taco Pump the more fluid the pump can move. The more precisely the pump is sized to the system; the better the system will work. However, for most residential applications the best-suited Taco Pump is the Taco 007.
