Where to install a vacuum breaker

A vacuum breaker is used to prevent water from re-entering the public supply after it enters your private pipes. Having backflow preventers and vacuum breakers assures that the public water supply is clean and that the water that each home and business receives is equally clean from impurities. When installing a vacuum breaker, make sure that it is placed at least 6 inches above the highest point in the pipe.
