If you are transporting potable (or drinking) water, you will need to use a bronze pump. This means that for all plumbing systems, bronze must be used instead of cast iron. You might also need a bronze pump if you are using it for heating water but your tubing does not have an oxygen barrier. And remember, if you are using a bronze pump, be sure to also use bronze flanges.
